Command and Conquer Tiberium Wars - anyone successful at multiplayer on a LAN??

I've got two purchased copies with 2 unique serial numbers. Have installed and deleted and dealt with EA "support" (and I use that term with disdain) on MULTIPLE occassions and have never yet been able to get a multiplayer game going.

I have an imac and a mac pro. We have gotten as far as seeing each other in the lobby, but can't join games. We either got "serial in use" error or looking at firewall I see a bunch of errors like this:

Does anyone have this game on multiple macs on a LAN working? If so, any possible tips to help get it working???!! I've got firewall setting to "accept all"

Weird. I was able to play over my LAN (using my Mac Pro and a friends iMac) with no issues at all, no configuring of my router or firewalls or any of that.
