I am using Catalina and today I have Command Line Tools beta 3 for Xcode 12.0 available as an update. Why? How can I remove this from being offered as a Software Update?
As I already mentioned there's an easy workaround, in Terminal type:
sudo softwareupdate --ignore "Command Line Tools beta 3 for Xcode"
Thank you very much for sharing the solution ?I don't know when Apple will fix it. I just hoped the command helped you.
How is it "broken"? Be specific. Do you think you're missing some other update?I have the same problem, when would Apple fix it so we can receive proper updates for Commandline tools? Ignoring the beta doesn’t bring up recent update to CL tools.
It's trying to install beta (aka buggy) software on the machines of users who haven't expressed any interest in running beta Xcode, beta CLT or beta macOS.How is it "broken"?
And again, apparently. Just got 'Command Line Tools beta 5 for Xcode 12.0' on my 10.15.6 system, despite not having Xcode installed and not being registered for betas.I see it too. Not running beta anything. Someone at Apple evidently pressed the wrong button.
Mine did go away after installing Xcode 11.7, or 10.15.6 Supplemental-Update, can't remember which.I'd hoped that this would go away with the release version of Xcode 12, but no such luck. Still have beta 5 showing up in Software Update. Sigh.
