Hi,

Ok, I can understand how iPod syncs directly with the music I have in iTunes, but if I want to transfer music from a music cd to my iPod, do I have to put the music first on my iTunes, or is there a way to get it to the iPod directly.

Thanks.

Frank

some options:

you *can* put your CD music *on* your iPod by dragging the .aiff files into iPod that is connected by using the FW HD mode. however, these music won't be playable by iPod.

if you want to play raw CD format on your iPod, rip the CD as .aiff to iTunes first, then sync with iPod.

in summary, previous poster is correct, you cannot put music on your iPod that is playable by iPod without going through iTunes. (there might be some hacks. you might want to look around versiontracker.)

You could try mounting the hidden files on the iPod to access your music collection directly on it. Then rip the cd to the iPod on those directories. You'd have to match the formatting of the directory structure on the iPod and then edit the playlists on the ipod to show the new files. Bascially its easier to just use iTunes and fugeddaboutit.
