Hi

I just read about this app called Commodore 64 for iPhone and that it wasn't approved by Apple. Therefore I won't be able to buy it yet :( But I thought posting a message here would get some attention to the game.

Check it out at http://www.c64iphone.com

Thanks :)

Ps. I'm not the developer of the game so I'm not just trying to get people to pay attention to my own game :b

This would be sooo cool. There are so many classic games for the C64 that I would love to play again. M.U.L.E is one of my all time favourites !

Have Apple definitely knocked this back for good? or does it just need some tweaking?

Maybe this might become available for the jailbreak community?

I just hope it sees the light of day sometime.

The emulator is real slick but Apple will not allow it, but they will allow the Sonic the Hedgehog (that runs in a Genesis emulator)??? Am I missing something?

C'mon Apple!! Let it though to the App store.

Sonic gets through because it isn't running arbitrary code. Then entire app is included in the app bundle. With the C64 emulator you'd have to have a way to put you own ROMs into the app, which is where the difference, and problem lies.

Yeah. That news is all over TouchArcade, and no one is happy.

Frankly, this is yet another case of Apple arbitrarily holding developers to their TOS. Aside from Sega's games - which is just a ROM baked into the emulator there are other emulators already in the App Store. The C64 team has the official license as well as the license for the games they're baking in. This is just silly. It's as bad as the whole deal over the Eucalyptus eBook reader. Hopefully, the developer will resubmit and get some exception.

Keeping fingers crossed (though I was more of an Atari guy).

It's sad that something like this is not allowed. I mean, this is what I thought in-app purchases were going to be all about. I don't want to have a new icon for every darn Sega release, I'd want one app that I can then purchase games within to keep things from being cluttered.

Maybe he'll have to bake every game he ever releases into it, adding more with with every new update. But have the games locked, hidden. Then you create an account that can log-in and make purchases that simply unlocks the ones you purchased with no need for a downloadable exe file. I would assume such old games must be small enough even a 100 games built in would not be that big. Though, hopefully no one shares their account with friends, or maybe some way to know it's the original phone purchased on and wouldn't need to connected to a sever everytime.

Exactly, I don't understand. Cant he utilize in-app purchases for additional games?
