Hello,

I am looking to buy a compact digital camera to take on holiday this summer.

Out of the following digital camera's which one would you recommend?

http://www.dabs.com/productlist.asp...=6&CategorySelectedId=11193&PageMode=1#Paging

I quite like: Kodak V610, Canon IXUS 800 IS, Sony DSC-T9

I just want a light weight/compact camera that takes good indoor and outdoor pictures. I mainly want a point and shoot one to allow quick snaps to be taken.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I got my wife the Konica Minolta Dimage X60 for Christmas and it is a very good camera. It takes nice pics and is very easy to use. The site I linked you to is excellent for reviews of cameras, so you might want to have a look through your shortlist - it might help you to make up your mind.

The X60 is a really good camera though, and very compact and feels sturdy.

thanks for the above recommendation but i was looking at the ones i mentioned because they have features like image stabilization and high iso ratings for such small cameras.

any more help anyone?

thanks,

Image stabilization is great feature to have. I won't buy a camera without it.

For cameras like the ones you are looking at, ISOs above 400 really aren't very useful. The noise levels at higher ISO settings make pictures that look pretty crappy when printed larger than 4x6.

For high ISO performance, you pretty much have to get an SLR.

FWIW the IS on the IXUS 800 (SD 700 IS here) is supposed to be quite noisy, so much so that it can be clearly heard (as a whine) when taking mini movies...
