Hey there,

So we've been holding off on upgrading our machines for probably 2 years now, and it's getting to the point where we just have to get something new.

Here's what we need:

2 main powerhouse machines for 3D, compositing, 6k editing and motion graphics
Maya/C4D
Adobe Premiere
Adobe After Effects
Davinci Resolve
Red Cine-X

2 machines for editing (raw 6k red epic)
Adobe Premiere
Adobe After Effects

Which Z's would you get and how would you spec them? There's way too many processors to choose from and I have no idea what's better than what anymore (thanks Apple).

Here's my initial builds that I put together.

I'm not sure if this still is an issue with HP boxes but make sure the power supply your machine ships with is big enough to support future upgrades, like if you decide to drop a second or third GPU in there.

I would also look at some other companies like Supermicro, which are pretty popular in West coast post houses . There are several vendors out there (www.thinkmate.com etc) shipping machines based on this set of boards and components. In general they offer more bang for your buck compared to HP. Just make sure you can get Thunderbolt as an option if you already have invested in drives etc.

I'm also looking into ProMAX. Anybody have experience with them?

*edit*

Holy ****, are they only storage now? No work machines?
