Hi there,
So with the price drop (no upgarde) I'm deciding if I should buy the trash can. I'm a traveler so I consider only laptop PC and trashcan, desktop PC or Mac tower is too big for me to travel with.
I'm a heavily CPU user , GPU is not much my care.

I can get a 7700K CPU laptop PC at around $2500 , or a $2999 nMP with E5-1650 v2, the score at PassMark benchmark is very very close.
But isn't the 7700 K the newest while E5-1650 V2 very very old (goes back to 2013???)

Which one is more powerful for heavy CPU usage?

The big questions is for what usage, single thread or multi thread is very different. High core count Xeon only able to show its power in multi thread situation. For single thread ops, i7 (or even i5) usually better.

Anyway, there is a lot of small PC out there with 7700k option. For $2999, I may pick a MSI VR One for traveling, but not the nMP.

If you don't need dual GPU, I don't think the nMP is a good option to you. You pay a lot for something that you don't use. Even worst, more things can go wrong. Either GPU failure can make your machine innoperative (and the nMP do have relatively high GPU failure rate).

You might want to consider the HP Z2 (http://store.hp.com/us/en/cv/z2mini) as well, Xeon and i7 options, 32 GiB RAM (ECC with Xeons).

Another nice travel option is a portable USB-powered display. I have an Asus 15.6 1920x1080 display - it is about as thick as a tablet and has a folding cover that doubles as a stand.

Thank you guys.As I'm doing Pro Audio , I need to make a decision between a audio PC laptop computer with 7700K CPU , or a trashcan with E5 1650 V2 CPU.

What got me confused is , E5 1650 V2 has over 12000 score on CPU benchmark while 7700 K also has over 12000 score.
Isn't the 7700K much newer and the trashcan CPU E5 1650 V2 is as old as 2013? Why are they getting the same score in

Is 7700K much better than the old E5 1650 V2, although the score of E5 1650 V2 is higher?

Because 6 cores vs 4 cores.
