Just installed the 3.0GM on the 3G iPhone. I can find most of the new features but i cant seem to see the compass feature or record video

Is it that they are disabled on the 3G or is there something wrong with the install?

Thanks

Andy

They are 3Gs only features.

Great!

I also take it background applications is also only on the S handset? As i cant see any settings for this on the 3G?

Dude, did you think that apple somehow snuck a magnetic compass into your phone when you upgraded the software?

It's possible they improved a few things, but double the RAM in the 3G is what allows for more background apps to stay open.

Erm...dude....thanks for that awesome reply! You rock! I really did! How dumb of me to think that a magnet was really placed into my brilliant phone with the aide of a software update!

Actually as the compass is digital it no longer requires the use of magnets...so if would like to up impress me with your so far impressive knowledge please explain to me how the compass works with your so called "magnet".

With it being digital this is why i was wondering why it was not in the update but it obviously has something to do with the new hardware in the 3GS.

Apple added a magnetometer to the 3GS... Not a "magnet" per se but an instrument used to measure the strength and/or direction of the magnetic field...

A most logical explanation...
