I have a dumb question for anyone with experience using the LG UltraGear 32”, model # 32GP83B displayport 1.4 and HDMI ports. Have you been able to pair this monitor with an Apple M1 Max using its Thunderbolt 4 port, without losing any performance? I’m assuming that there are dongles that would adapt it to fit, but do they take a hit performance-wise?

I have the LG Ultragear 38", model #38GL950G-B. I'm connected via the DisplayPort to Thunderbolt. The display runs fine at 3840x1600 resolution with a 175hz refresh rate. Haven't really tried games on it besides Portal 1 & 2 in parallels. Didn't notice any issues while playing. So I'd imagine the 32" would be just fine.

Do you recall what brand it is and maybe where you bought it from?

The more insights, the better, seeing as how not all dongles are created equal.

Also, seeing your screenshot of your monitor settings reminds me of another question: since Monterey, MacOS has had Adaptive Sync built in for Variable Refresh Rate functionality on the Mac side for games. Have you found any issues with just using MacOS tools for that, or have you had to resort to third party utilities like switchres x?
