Hi!
I'm getting a new iMac M1 shortly. The people I work with use PC's, with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint so I'm obliged to have Microsoft office for Mac. I have an old 2016 version of Office that I use now, which cannot be updated anymore. Will this old 2016 version of Office work on the new iMac M1 or will I need to buy the new Office? I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

I can’t say if it would work or not, however if you are working with people using the latest versions of office, I would probably recommend upgrading anyway to prevent any comparability issues using and older version office.

Thank you. I'll try using the old version first, and buy the 2021 Office if it does not work. I was just wondering if anyone with the M1 had tried it. Not really sure which version of Office they use (I work online).

Thank you for replying! I'm going to first see whether the 2016 works on the M1 before investing in the 2021. It's very annoying when one is obliged to buy a new version. It's like, 'Sorry, your battery cannot be recharged because we don't make them anymore. Buy a new one or buy a new car!'

Thank you for replying! You are all right! This version does not work on my new iMac M1. Bought the 2021 version in the end $$$.
