iTunes advertised The Lonely Island's "Incredibad" as part of the "Countdown to..." thing. It specifically said that I could buy those songs and use the Complete My Album feature when the album comes out. After the feature was a little wonky just after midnight, that worked later Tuesday morning.

My question is, with all of these singles released a few months before the album is, but they're released with the album as "Song Name - Single", can we use Complete My Album? I don't want to be penalized for buying a darn song early and then having to eventually pay an extra 99 cents overall if I want the album. The only other thread I saw addressing this was from November, which was before the whole DRM-removal thing.

If you want specifics, I'm interested in the Kelly Clarkson, Eminem, and Flo Rida singles released in the past month. But I don't want to waste 99 cents.

When you do the Complete My Album, it will subtract the .99 you paid for the single, and only charge you the difference.

For "Complete My Album", you specifically have to use the "Complete My Album" interface. DO NOT just go into the main album listing and hit "buy".

If you go into the "Complete My Album" interface, you will see all albums that you qualify to buy for the reduced price.

I know that free singles of the week do not qualify for Complete My Album. I don't know about paid-for "singles", as I don't think I have any of those.

And for your specific case, buying a single when it is the only track available on the future-release album, I haven't bought any of those, I have pre-ordered the entire album.

When you do that, you are charged 99 cents immediately, then the remainder when the rest of the album is released. So if it is a $9.99 album, you get charged 99 cents today, then $9.00 when the main album comes out. You also get the notice that you have the rest of the album available to download. This pre-order is *NOT* considered "Complete My Album", it is "pre-ordering".
