I am wanting to start programming for the iphone. I know nothing about programming and I want to lean. From doing a lot of research and and trying to start programming I realize it is very confusing and hard. The movies on iTune did not help me, they are for people who know a little about programming. I was also reseaching were to start and his is my qestion. I do not know what book to buy to start with programming, I also do not know if I should start with the mac or if I can go striaght to the iPhone. I saw some books on amazon, but most of them think you already know something about programming, and i know nothing.If you guys know of any good books for complete newbies please tell me. I greatly apriciate it all the help.

If you want to learn for the iPhone directly, you should learn Objective-C. You might want to start with C to understand the concept first though.
If you never programmed anything, Objective-C will be hard.

Learn how to program first, before learning either Objective-C, or the iPhone SDK. Unless you are a near genius at computers, learning all 3 together is nasty difficult.
Pick up an easy beginning computer programming book at the library. Read it. Do the assignments. Any language: Java, Javascript, Basic, C, etc.
Obj-C will seem far easier afterwards. And there will probably be lots more books on it in the next couple years.

Did you read the previous responses? If you have no background in programming you need to start with the basics before even thinking about getting a book on iPhone development or Cocoa. Start with a good book on C programming and then move on to Objective C (something on the basics of Object-Oriented Programming would help too). Once you're comfortable with Objective C you can move to Cocoa and then to the iPhone. Be prepared to invest some serious learning time. There are no shortcuts.
On the positive side, you'll be developing skills that are in high demand and can serve you throughout a professional career.

Find a simple beginning programming book - titled for dummys/idiots, that kind, not that that title refers to you of course ...

That would be an excellent book. The iPhone version exists too but I suggest you start with the Mac. It's easier and you'll be ready for the iPhone after that. The author is good and explains things slowly and clearly.
