For some reason, my login was corrupted. So, I used install CD to go to Terminal and copy the name.sparsebundle to an external USB drive.

I thought the copy will be exactly called as name.sparsebundle. But when I cheked the USB Drive on Windows, the following files were created:

drwxrwxrwx 20 mkonda staff 680 21 Dec 16:37 bin
drwxrwxrwx 54 mkonda staff 1836 21 Dec 16:37 Applications
-rwxrwxrwx 1 mkonda staff 122880 21 Dec 20:33 token
-rwxrwxrwx 1 mkonda staff 499 21 Dec 20:33 Info.plist
-rwxrwxrwx 1 mkonda staff 499 21 Dec 20:33 Info.bckup
drwxrwxrwx 20878 mkonda staff 709852 22 Dec 01:34 bands

In the above bands folder is the huge one which consists of hundreds of directories.

Now, I reinstalled my OS, and expected to copy the sparsebundle back to Mac. However I was unable to use Disk Utility to 'restore' - I selected source as my external drive and tried to select destination as Macintosh HD. But for some reason, I couldn't drag the Mac HD into the destination box.

Is there any way to create a sparsebundle with the above folders and copy to mac? Or is there any other alternative to grab the contents from the above list?

I do desperatekly looking for a solution as I gor 180Gb worth of data in that Sparse Bundle.

Any pointers are much appreciated!!

THANKS
Madhu
