Thats fine.
As soon as you walk into the Mac section in a CompUSA, suddenly you can't find any employees.... They all disappear. Strange.
And if you do see any, they act like there're doing-something-really-important-can't-talk-avoid-eye-conntact-HIDE!

So true, funny thing is... I am one (but I don't hide). :p

The Mac sections at CompUSA, at least where I live, are actually rented spaces by Apple and ran/managed by Apple. They are essentially miniature Apple Stores.

Fortunately, I know the Apple employee that runs the one at the CompUSA by my house. I never speak to the red-shirts (the CompUSA employees) concerning Apple products; they're generally clueless when it comes to Macs.

Yeah, I am a red shirt employee, and I know just about as much as the two Apple Reps. I know more then them in a lot of areas, such as software for the mac. But in general, you are correct, it is best to find an Apple Rep whenever possible.

I went to a compusa yesterday and to my suprise the apple section was pretty good, my cousin i went with new one of the workers threre, he was a red shirt employee, he came over and was talking to us. I was looking at the 23inch cinema display and he started to talk about it. He was saying that dells have better monitors and that the cinema are pieces of crap and that the displays suck and the quality is crappy. Now, i understand why one could think the dell is better because of the price but the quality:confused: I jst dont understand, i felt like saying something but i kept my mouth shut, lol.

Pre-Order OS X

Screw that, iTunes 1.1 is out! I can't wait until 2.0 is released. I hear it's going to have support for some doohickey they're calling an iPod or something like that. I wonder what it does

Frisco, TX CompUSA is the opposite, I can't find any employees to ever help with things other than Apple. I come in and they always want to share what they know. Heck day they got the MB they opened it for me, even though I said I wasn't even looking for one, just so they could see it and what not.

The problem is even then this CompUSA is still behind, no 17 MBP, still iBook's and Powerbooks full lines on display. Everything is very very dusty and dirty... 15" MBP has a nice little section of its own but even then it still is all dirty... They even still have an eMac on sale!

the one i go to, everything is nice and clean, and all the products are updated, they do hace a clearence shelf with ibooks, mac minis, and powerbooks though.

By the way, the one i go to is in Norfolk, Va

At the CompUSA that I went to (in Redlands, CA), there was what appeared to be a miniature Apple Store (as Fatal Darkness mentioned) and they had an Apple specialist, as well as all their products updated, so it was a lot more than I expected, as CompUSA doesn't have the best reputation for selling Macs. The Apple guy even convinced my mom to buy an iMac, and now she wants to bring my stepdad along so he can see for himself before they buy one. :D
