I may relaunch my computer consulting practice. Its been a while since I did it last. Back then I ordered business cards, made flyers and advertised that one. These days I may just advertise on CraigsList and build a client or two before I get fancy. What LOW COST ideas would you suggests to get me started and how should I market myself? Not sure if the city I live is large enough for a Mac consultant to survive. Thanks..

Craigslist is probably the best way to get your business flowing. Certainly a website is needed but I think CL is the place to start.

Craigslist is pretty useless for leads in computer repair. Unless you are looking to charge ridiculously low prices. Mostly you get worthless phone calls from people looking to spend $20 for a repair.

Flyers listing your hourly rate and services work better.

This is my experience. Advertise with flyers and word of mouth. Maybe even do a freebie job if the customer agrees to tell everyone. Also, if you do any other type of work, such as graphics/web design, you may have to rely on that rather than just Mac stuff.
