I have been having so many troubles with network bugs in Yosemite but this one is really irritating me.

I have two MacBook Airs (2010 and 2011) and 4 Mac Minis. I use the current AirPort Time Capsule as my primary DHCP router and have two AirPort Expresses. So I am 100% Apple in networking.

The Macbook Airs (Not the Minis for some reason) keep resetting the Computer Name every few hours or so. I think it might be when they sleep (possibly). This has never happened before in 10.9, 8 etc

I reset the name at say "MBA" then it gets renamed to MBA (2), then MBA (3) etc etc.

I have googled this and tried a number of suggestions that do not work. I have tried:

- rebooting Airport Time Capsule and Macs (multiple times)

- Powering them off completely for a few minutes

- Setting WiFi (their primary network connection) as #1 in the Service Order

- Setting a specific 'Location' in the network tab

- Renaming the MBAs

So I have tried every thing I can find and nothing has worked.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Honestly, I did search. I even pointed out that I "googled" And I found few threads and tried the options as I said in my post. I guess OS X "appending" computer name did not come to mind. Using the word "appending" was number 462 on my list of search options. I didn't quite get that far down the list (I wasn't working alphabetically). I'll have a look at the thread. Jokes aside though I appreciate you posting and the speedy reply. Thanks.
