I am not sure if this is the proper forum to post this question.

I was wondering with the advances in the iPhone and iPad, is there really a need for a computer? Does one really need it for these devices to function?

Thanks

1. That TOTALLY depends on your needs.
2. No, you can set up and use both without the need for a computer.

As above. But in many people's experience, having a computer makes some things easier.

Examples that come to mind...
- Backup & restore (a fraction of the time compared to iCloud backup).
- Adding content (eg. music) NOT bought from iTunes cannot be done without a computer.

There's others too.
