'Con' Folder name in Win XP

Hello there MR users. Today, I tried renaming a folder in Win XP to con. I couldn't, the folder name always changed to New Folder or to the previous folder name. Does anyone know why Win XP doesn't allow the users to use 'con' as a folder name?

CON is the device name for the console in DOS/Windows.
