Concerned about White Macbook Discoloration

Hi,

I'm planning on buying a Macbook in the next few days and prefer the white book to the black. I'm really concerned about discoloration, though. Some people say that the issue was fixed. Your guys comments?

that was only in the first core duo macbooks. it has long been fixed.

and plus, all of the cd laptops it happened to, apple fixed them free of charge.

for a little personal experience, I have a c2d macbook. I've been using a touch of iKlear in the beginning and every now and then and have absolutely no discoloration. I love this machine... so powerful and portable. Just to throw it in there, I like it much more than my 17inch MBP...

I have a White CD Macbook that's almost a year old (bought last September). It's used daily by two people. I've had no issues whatsoever with discoloring -- or any issues at all for that matter.

I have brand new MacBook and until this moment is perfect, its so beautiful! Dont worry the problem has been fixed for the rev. c macbooks (I hope so)

As well as changing the plastic in the palmrest area, which has apparently eliminated the problem (as discussed in previous thread), Apple has also added into its MB online support section that if you (or rather the MB) experience the discolouration, contact a support centre. Generally, people report the palmrest is replaced, no questions asked (as zioxide has said).

Also, as TaKashMoney says, the odd bit of cleaning won't hurt; the discolouration problem seems to have been caused by oil from the skin reacting with the plastic - this isn't the case with the newer plastic used (or at least, seems to be!), but normal dirt will rub off.

Moshi, btw, do a very good palmrest/trackpad protectors - some may say it's a bit of an overkill, but they're easy to clean and great keeping that MB pristine!
