Hey all,

My agency is all mac and buying me a new mac pro. I'm mostly an After Effects user with occasional C4D and Pr/Resolve/Ps/AI. Motion graphics/minor 3D and video editing. Been doing this stuff for 14+ years professionally. I'm currently on a 2013 MP, 6 core with AMD D500.

Which is best for my use case?

- 12 core with 2 vega ii graphics cards
- 16 core with 1 vega ii graphics cards
Both with 96 GB RAM and Maybe afterburner?

I've read that when these new pros came out AE ran almost worse (during workflow, not rendering) than the old trash cans when people ran the higher core Xeons. Has After Effects optimized lately for multi-core or is it still the same story? I'm trying to figure out which pro machine would be best for performance in the next 5-10 years future-proofed working with 2d animation/VFX and editing with 4-8k footage.
What do you guys think would be best for me?

16 core, pro vega ii duo, afterburner, plenty of ram has produced excellent results for PP, Resolve, and FCPX editing. No issues whatsoever. Still room to boost up cpu and other mpx modules that might be 'around the corner'.

cool thanks. I understand AE doesn't run as well but hopefully adobe will finally update for multi core utilization
