Confirm Downgrade of EDGE service?

Is there anyone out there that can confirm that you can downgrade the data plan as one of your ATT online account options? I saw a posting saying that you could do this. Is there any repercussion if you choose to loose the edge data plan fees etc...?

Of course you will lose visual voice mail also. For the convenience of Google maps (versus 411) and weather/stock updates with VVM, I think the Edge is great. I would rather not do without it. Compared to most other data packages, its cheap too. But I still wish it was less.

I am sure one day data will be packaged with the voice plan. Just as ATT/Cingular no longer offer local plans, all nation-wide.
