at least it's not a huntsman.... right? (or is it?)
it could very well be a baby Huntsman. But Huntsmen are your friend. Your majestically galloping furry friend, who wants to be your best friend, for ever.

Coming home one night, I saw something in the distance, illuminated by my headlights, run across the driveway, casting a shadow out behind it - I thought it was a mouse, given the size and speed.

Nope, huntsman. Big Huntsman.

The female one I came across shutting my gate one night was anything but friendly. She was in threat mode! The stance said ā€œgo away or there will be troubleā€ very clearly.

I complied readily. Eek! They are fast too!

I also remember the evening when one was in the house and all the young ones were hatching (or however it was called). Hundreds of the little things everywhere.

Declared WW3 that night. The little ones all found the vacuum cleaner or a spray and eventually found the mother spider (same room) and possibly the male adult hiding in another room.

Normally Iā€™ll leave them alone, they do control bugs and other pests.
