so if you trade in your old phone for 150 $ credit and purchase new one for 1100 $ (950 $ after credit applied) what happens in case you want to exchange new phone for different one (color/storage) ?

I paid aprox 1200 $ for new max 256 GB in gold color. If I want to exchange for 64 GB version (which is 150 $ cheaper I think) will they also apply my credit from trade in and basically save 150 $ because buying cheaper version of new phone ?
