Ive ordered a custom strap at Casetify and while I was on Facebook an ad came up and people were saying it was only suitable for stainless steel and not the sport?

I'm confused, I thought all straps fitted all watches?

That's odd. Apple discourages using bands for the Apple Watch for the Sport. The only explanation I ever heard beyond marketing reasons is that there is a possibility of galvanic corrosion in the presence of sweat, where the steel lug contacts the aluminum body.

You should contact Casetify directly for clarification.

I did this already.

Casetify will fit Sport. However, they only made it with the Steel in mind. So the clasp/buckle, thingy the strap goes into will be stainless steel and not silver nor space grey aluminum.

Hope that makes sense. That's what stopped me from ordering..for now

They need to rethink that. Their type of band material looks ideal for the lightweight Sport. And are a better style match. Their bands are a bit on the whimsical, sporty, artistic fun side that suits the Sport so well. A lot of people who gravitated toward the steel watches seem to want a more serious look for their watches. At least that's the impression I got from random comments on this board. But of course that's hardly scientific sampling!

So would it be wise to cancel or is it irrelevant?

Based on the updated images Casetify has on their site, they only support the leather classic or modern buckle b/c both of those straps are changeable.

In other words it looks like they are selling plastic bands, no adapter included.

Yeah, changeable only with a special pentalobe screwdriver that from what I read as of this morning, is of a size nobody is yet completely sure of. And if you remove the screws, supposedly you have to discard them (slightly stripped upon removal?).

I wouldn't touch Casetify just yet. And they really need to explicitly communicate on their site exactly what flavor of Apple watch their bands are compatible with and how the consumer is expected to handle the changing of bands. It's currently no small thing to dismantle your $150 or more Apple band just to use the lugs for another band.
