First of all Hello 
I've been looking round these forums for the past couple of months and finally joined up and decided this was a good a time as any to make my first post !
Basically my situation is that I am a Commercial Photography Student who is looking at getting a new iMac which I want to be a 27" to give me a larger area for editing.
That bit and knowing what RAM and the likes I want is all fine and dandy but then comes the MASSIVE problem on picking a processor
Obviously if I'm spending this kind of money on my first iMac I want to get it right first time specs wise and at the minute I've got an six year old PC that is finally heading to it's grave running a 3.2GHz Intel Pentium 4 HT with it's lovely 1MB of L2 Cashe (Which is always running at 100% these days sick of the sound of that fan haha!) with a BEAST 1.5 GB DDR1 RAM old school I think so !
Shows you it's ancient when the best thing on it is the ATI Radeon HD 3600 512MB I threw in like 2 years back !
So the big question for me is Dual Core 3.06GHz i5 or Quad Core 2.93GHz i7
I mean ANYTHING would be faster than the PC, I'm currently on an iBook G4 because I prefer the speed of this thing
But the main applications that I will be using would be predominantly Photoshop CS5 with some Aperture 3 & Lightroom 3 to do my editing on,
Don't do gaming that's what my 360 is for when I have time so that isn't an issue for me.
So my question is in my situation which would you choose and why ?
My god this sounds more like Blind Date than asking for some help !
