Targus - Travel USB 2.0 4-Port Hub with Ethernet Cable

I can't tell if this is a typical 4-port USB hub or it actually has the same capability as the Apple USB to Ethernet adaptor. For roughly the same price, if that was the case, I would return my Apple USB-to-Ethernet Adaptor, and get this from BB. Two birds, one stone.

I'm guessing that I'm wrong about this, however. But why would it come with an ethernet cable?

Thanks!

EDIT: Here is Targus' page.

Reading the description, it is a USB hub and Ethernet adapter. Reading further it seems to do both USB and Ethernet without an AC adapter (non powered USB hub and Ethernet adapter)

So do you think I could get the utility of both a USB hub AND a USB to ethernet adaptor on this? After reading Targus' page, I don't think it does. But why the hell would someone want an ethernet cable with a big brick in the middle? That makes no sense.

What I think is irrelevant. The wording of the description on the link you provided seems to indicate it does both.
I would call them, find out for sure. Especially if you are not local to the US, might as well spend a few bucks making sure before you buy it and have it internationally shipped. You could also email them. I have emailed them in the past, and gotten good support via email. Though it was for a bag, not an electrical device.

This item does not have an ethernet adaptor built in. It has a retractable Ethernet cable that pulls out... It does have a USB hub built in.. this is the only electronics... Kind of a lame product..

Nope. Nowhere in the description does it say Ethernet ADAPTER - it says CABLE, which means literally that. When in doubt, search the manufacturer's site for the part number ACH77US

If you look at the "Alternate View 2" picture, it shows how the hub and the cable separate.

So no, it doesn't come with a built in ethernet adapter.

Googled the model number and clicked on the first link... it turns out that it is a retractable ethernet cable AND a USB Hub.
