I've been given the password to connect wirelessly to my neighbor's pc but just don't get it. The name of his PC shows up in the top right corner of my screen where I can select networks. I select his pc and it shows that it is selected and there is a full signal. The name has a check mark with a lock to show it is secure.

Now what? I assume his hard drive or shared folder should show up on the desktop but that doesn't happen. Is there something really simple that I am missing?

are u connected to his network?

It's far more likely that he has given you access to his router and therefore network than directly to his PC. Once there you need to browse his network for any shared drives or folders that he is sharing from one or more computers. Connect to one of those shares via Finder.

You mention that he has given you access to his "PC". I guess you mean he is giving you access to his network. If you click on the Airport icon at the top of the screen to reveal a drop down menu. If his network is in range then it will show up in the list (as you say it does, with a padlock icon next to the name). Click on the network name and enter the password when prompted.

If the connection succeeds then you should have some sort of access to any shared items he has. Obviously, you both need to have file sharing enabled. If he is using a windows machine he needs to manually share the folders he wants to allow you access to.

You will be able to access these through the "Shared" section of the left hand navigational page in the Finder window on your Mac.

Hope this helps.
