G'day,

My son takes his iPad (6th Gen, running 14.7.1) to school each day, and uses the school's wifi. It is the same iPad that his big brother previously used at the same school.

He then comes home, and the iPad auto connects to the home wifi.

However - despite saying it's connected, nothing requiring internet will work. It says an internet connection is required. (Wifi works fine on all other devices - it is not the Wifi)

Tried restarting iPad, turning wifi off and on, no good.

But, if I change the iPad to connect to a hotspot from my iPhone, and then put it back on the home wifi - it works.

What's going on, and how do I make it "just work"?? This did not happen previously when my older son used the same iPad at school. When I changed it over from one child to the other, I set the iPad up using a backup of another iPad. Does that have anything to do with it...?? The "other" iPad never went to school...

Cheers

My recommendation is to reset all network settings and give it a go. This type of issues are generally down to different types of routers and their incompatibility with iOS.

Make sure you power cycle the router and modem if its not a combo unit.

I would start by going into wifi, pressing the I next to the wifi and press "Forget this Network". Then just try reconnecting to it again.

It sounds like there ia conflict in their handshake.

Another thing to try is to forget the network from the iPad and reconnect it.

That’s likely part of the suggestion of post 2 from Akash. Resetting network settings leads to having to reconnect to your networks.
