Hi everyone, I know this has been discussed quite a bit, but I still don't think I understand.

Is it not possible to sync your photos from a library AND stream the music, movies, etc???

I have a library much bigger than 40gig (or 160 for the matter) so I can't sync everything, but I'd like to be able to sync just my photos but still have access to my music and movies.

Any clarification?

BTW - I've had the :apple: tv for a week and haven't turned on my cable box yet. I'm loving it so far.

That's how mine is set up. All my photos, some music, and a couple movies are on ATV. Everything else I stream. It's definately do-able.

Huh...I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong then. When I go to itunes to type in the passcode I set itunes up to sync only the photos. So how do I get it to stream the other content?

I guess it is actually streaming the media and syncing the photos - sorry about that. But do you actually have to change the source to :apple: tv to get to your photos? Seems sort of silly.

Yes, photos are only available when the source is your ATV (synced content). You can only stream movies/music from your iTunes library. I don't find it to be much of a hassle...

It's really simple, and it's in the instructions for the ATV. Basically you set the comp you want to stream from as a "Source". The comp has to be on and iTunes open. The ATV will give you a password to enter into iTunes on the comp. After that, any content on that comp will be available to the ATV under sources, as long as the comp is on and iTunes on that comp is open.

Read the instructions for more detail on how to set the comp up as a source, it's been a while since I did it.

With iTunes 7.3 and the Apple TV 1.1 update, you can now stream your photos as well. If you are set up to sync from iTunes, turn on syncing of photos (even if they won't fit) and you can now use them for your screensaver or slideshow when streaming from iTunes.

When streaming from a non-synced source, make sure you select the Apple TV from the list in iTunes 7.3 and turn on streaming under the photos tab.

If it's too silly for you, then don't sync your photos and stream them instead so you won't have to switch sources.

Apparently the iTunes update released today allows photo streaming.
