There won't be any Apple events for a while. Any big announcement will be done via WWDC style video.

Tim Cook said they would have an Apple Silicon Mac ready in 2020, I am sure that they took into account COVID 19 and manufacturing delays when he said that. He also did not say that it would be a MacBook or any other portable for that matter. Clearly they have the Mac mini pretty much ready to go.

Apple could be ramping up for a trifecta release; 24" iMac, 14" MacBook, & Mac mini; all would use the same logic board & SoC. Different form factors for different market segments, but all working with the same hardware specs (BTO RAM & storage options aside). ASi products out in a variety of form factors & usages, but any first gen hiccups are confined to a singular hardware profile...
