Confusion about upgrading MBP RAM

A lot of people here are talking about how they maxed out their MBP RAM at 4 gigs, but the Apple website states that it maxes out at 3 gigs.

Can anyone clear up my confusion before I take the plunge?

The newest MBPs can access 4GB, the ones before that could only access 3GB

Ok, I guess thats where the confusion was.

Now all I have to do is sit and wait for MacWorld until I buy
