Well, I didn't get one tonight. The world will go on. Dick Cheney will continue to run things from his Google Earth-invisible bunker.

While the champagne corks are no doubt a poppin in Cupertino, this hard working Graphic Design studio owner, who has purchased upwards of 100+ macs in his day, comes home empty handed after standing in a line in a mall like a schmuck for a couple of hours, only to be told 'sorry no more.'

This, after watching just about every customer come out of the store with TWO BAGS. What a major faux pas on Apple's part. Sure, they sold a s#itload of these things, but lost a whole bunch of good will in the process. Had they allowed just one per customer, everyone on my line (in southern california) would have left a happy Apple customer. Instead, they felt let down. Jobs said 6pm was chosen to be 'democratic,' so people wouldn't take off work. Well, I'm no working stiff, but I chose to work today (and made many times the cost of an iPhone just today), and got in line when the doors to the store opened, and I wasted two hours of my life like an idiot.

It's such a dumb thing - in retrospect - getting sucked into the hype of a gadget one doesn't need, but simply desires. It was fun talking to all kinds of characters on the line, but they felt the same as me. We were told they'd have more tomorrow, more than one of us sarcastically said "woo hoo."

I won't be back in line again tomorrow. It's a ****ing cell phone.

Rant over!

Congratulations to you, sir, for complaining that the supply most hyped gadget in recent history didn't meet demand. Umm, duh? Take a chill pill, you'll get one eventually, some stores still have a bunch (5th Ave. NY has a boatload).

Yes, you are right it's a bleeping cell phone. So why are you crying like a 2 year old who just split her milk? Where have you been hiding out that you didn't realize there would be lines up the yazoo by 6pm? Did you really think you could just waltz in a 6pm and pick up a phone? If that is the case I'm guessing you don't get paid for your analytical skills. Stories of people camping out have only been on the news and sites like this one all week.

It WILL teach them...

I will single-handedly devote the rest of my life to the destruction of Apple Inc.

Mwahahahahahahaaaaaa.

Ok, maybe I will get in line tomorrow. I'm chill, by the way. The rant was with a smile on my face. :D

Yes, you sound ever so loyal. You sound like the first (of many) girl(s) to dump me. "I still love you and always will, I just think we should see other people too".

How could Apple ever personally insult you in such a way? I mean you, a hardworking Graphic Design studio owner and loyal Apple customer, neglected by the whiles of supply and demand...how dare Steve Jobs personally spit in your face in such a way? This is an outrage...this is MADNESS!

[/sarcasm]

Go back and get one tomorrow when the next shipment comes in or not at all, we really don't care. If your "loyalty" can't bear to wait a day or two to get one of the most hyped products on the market today, then you may want to reevaluate your understanding of certain words in the English language. This really is such a childish complaint.

I was afraid that my local stores would sell out, so i just ordered mine online, the best thing about that is i dont have to sit around and lose pay to get it.

I think you should stop insulting this guy, he stood in a line for 2 hours only to be told to go away at the end of it.

Madness? This is SPARTA!!!!!!!!!!

Why would a guy who supposedly makes $500,000/year waste his time by coming on here and making a pointless rant?

seriously. you're having a whine because you have to wait until tomorrow to get an iPhone. you poor, poor soul. imagine what it would feel like to wait at least 2 weeks for a computer. you'd probably die.

but your right. it is just a ****ing cell phone. thats why i can't understand why the MR servers got owned a few hours earlier. the iPod was a completely new thing; the iPhone is a special PDA.

I hate Apple for what they did to you.

I can hardly think straight I am so mad at Apple. No phone for you? Holy cow!

There are plenty of Apple Stores in the greater LA area.... if you tried hard enough you would have gotten a phone today. As I was leaving the Topanga store in Canoga Park a little after 11 PM, they were selling an iPhone to a guy who just walked in.

I mean seriously.... Southern CA is one area where you should not have had problems finding a store with the phone. There were reports that at 6 PM there were only 40 people in line at the Pasedena store!

I went to the Topanga store at 3:30 PM to find the line extended outside the mall to the street so I got back in my car and went to Simi Valley where the line was considerably shorter.

You gave up too easily.

weird that they sold out. that retail/iphone page shows every store in the u.s. as having them tomorrow anyways, so you could go back and get it at 9:00.

I got my phone but feel for the guy waiting and watching people walk out with multiple phones. I saw a number of people with 6 and 8 phones - 2 per person - they had kids...like 5 years old. Guess "per person" means per body.

I would say one out of ten customers bought only one phone. I can see maybe buying one for a friend or spouse...but 8! Not playing fair.

Your faught for not thinking and showing up while the rest of us waited...Why blame apple for your mistake. You knew the hype and figured you could just walk right up and get one . Yeah
