Connect Apple 27" Cinema display to 2020 Mid iMac?

Ok So I was buying the Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunder 2 adapter on their website to do the Subject Question. When I got ready to checkout it said "Note: This adapter does not support DisplayPort displays like the Apple LED Cinema Display or third-party DisplayPort and Mini DisplayPort displays.". Has anyone successfully done this with any adapter. Heck this one was $50. I figured must less for an adapter and apparently I am wrong. OWC says they have one that is $58. I hate to order in and just have to return it...
