Sorry if this question is obvious but I couldn't find the answer anywhere. I have a 2010 iMac and have been trying to figure out a good media center option to play Netflix and ripped DVDs. I've tried Plex, Boxee, and every other free software and hated them all. I also can't stand the Netflix website interface and just want one unified media center, like what the ATV can offer. The ATV interface and features looks perfect for what I'm trying to do on my iMac but I don't know if it'll work. Can I connect the two, or does the ATV only work with a TV?

If you have a 27" imac and you buy the specific cable that will take HDMI to mini-display port then yes but the HDMI TO mini-display port is not the same one that takes a mini-display port to HDMI. It's kind of pricey. Frankly I don't see the need/want to do this at all, but to each his own.
