iPod Connect iPod Touch to TV: Component or Composite cable?

i'm planning to connect my ipod touch to my tv to watch some movies over at a friends house, but which cable should i buy and why?

the component or the composite cable?

component will always look better than composite if he has an HDTV, if its just a regular SDTV the difference is small.

You can get a set of composite cables from monoprice.com for dirt cheap. Might as well go component.

the product info of the component cable on the apple website says that a max. resolution of 480i is supported with the ipod touch.

so, it doesn't matter if i'm using a component or composite with an ipod touch, right? the max supported resolution is 480i with both cables.

Hmm, at 480i, it will be a little sharper and have a bit better color with the component cables, nothing too drastic that you would even notice unless they were side by side

Remember, the iPod touch, iPhone, iPod classic, and iPod nano 3G will NOT work on any cable that does not have an Apple authentication chip in it. So you basically have to buy Apple's cables.

Component will look better but more TVs have composite connections. If you plan on using it on a lot of different TVs then you might better off with the composite cables.

The iPod classic and iPod nano are capable of 480p output.

I bought a non-Apple component cable with iPod connector, USB, and audio outlets and never managed to get it to play video. Managed a bit of audio in a hotel once.

Wish Apple would warn people when they deliberately monopolist the accessory market. I wasted a lot of dollars and time over months before reading about this issue here.
