Connect via ethernet cable

I do not have access to a firewaire cable to be able to use for the migration software, nor do I want to shell out $30 at Best Buy for a 1-3 time use cable. I used to be able to shard files directly between my PC and Mac by connecting via ethernet cable and cmd-k and connecting to the PC's IP etc etc. What address do I use to be able to connect my 2 macs with this same method?

PS - time is a factor as well, that is why I don't have time to be able to look for a friend with one
