I had an old riny-dink TV a few years ago and bought an AV cable with the headphone jack and was able to listen to my tunes through my TV with no worries.

Recently, I purchased a similar AV cable and tried to use it with my HDTV Vizio and it wouldn't work. So I went back and tried the cord that had the headphone jack on both ends - still didn't work. At a loss and confused after some not so resolute google searches, I decided to chat with a Vizio CSR. I was told that I needed the Apple Component AV Cable.

I specifically told her that I wanted to play my tunes through the TV, but it seems like this cable will only play video. Will the cord play audio only? I have no desire to port my vids on my classic to my TV.

I have one of these component dock connectors, with the three RCA plugs. I use the audio connectors to play my iPod through a Bose Wave unit, and so it should be fine with audio inputs on a TV.
