Connecting a Mac Mini to a 40" sony bravia with no optical

Hi all

I am about to pull the trigger on a new top spec Mini but have a question about connecting video & audio to my TV

I can use a DVI to HDMI for the picture. Is this the best method for getting a full clear screen?

The TV is a 1080p bravia with:
2 hdmi inputs (one of them also has 2 rca inputs.. sound?)
2 scarts
1 component
s-video
1 PC input
headphone jack

Can you get a lead to go from mini audio optical output to 2 rca plugs? (white & red) so I can plug these in to the sockets next to the 2nd hdmi input on the TV so I can get sound

I have no AV amp at present so no available optical input on the TV

Yes. That will work. The new mini doesn't have regular DVI, but it comes with an adapter to DVI. You definitely want to keep it all digital, going to analog at any step will kill your clarity and resolution possibilities.

I run a 46" bravia with that adapter, then a dvi to hdmi cable. I then run the optical audio out to an AV Reciever. But the headphone jack on the mini also works for regular stereo out, so yes, you could get an adapter to turn it to the left and right channel RCA connections.
