I've ordered a Mac Mini and a Logitech Dinovo Mini bluetooth keyboard for a home theater setup. I've only ever owned laptops/Macbooks and have no USB keyboards. How do I do the initial setup between the Dinovo and the Mini without any USB keyboard? Can I use my Macbook Pro keyboard in some way?

The mini will see there is no keyboard connected and bring up the connection wizard.

If it doesnt you go to the bluetooth settings in systerm preferences and you should see your bluetooth keyboard. You may need to pair it with the mini.

What I was worried about was how to go to System Prefs without a keyboard.

But....

..that's great to hear.

Thanks guys.

I just had that problem last Saturday. :( I got my Mini from the apple store in the evening and was hooking it up about 9:30 at night. I have like 40 keyboards from over the years (I'm in the computer field) but they were all in my storage unit which closed at 7:00. Turns out I had a PS2 keyboard on my existing keyboard.

I didn't attempt to power it up without a keyboard because I figured there was no way to pair it without a keyboard. I ultimately just bored my neighbors keyboard for about 10 mins (I already had a USB mouse).

So, can you borrow one?

Mike

Yeah, if you don't own either I'd recommend going on Craigslist or something and buying someones old ratty USB keyboard and USB mouse. Chances are at some point you're going to need it for a few mins because keyboard/mouse became unpaired for some reason. Might as well spend $10 and buy it now and store it in the dark corner of your closet for when that day comes. It'll save you a lot of grief when you need it at 11pm on a Sunday night and all the stores are closed and your buddies are sleeping and all you want to do is use your computer.

AHHH!!

It's not seeing the bt keyboard. It's asking me to switch my mouse on but nothing about the keyboard. SO CLOSE, YET SO FAR!!

Same problem, new mac mini and a new DiNovo Mini kbd. The mac can't "see" the bluetooth mini kbd, no matter how many times I try to make it work. I'll just have to use the dongle.
