Run a digital optical TOSLINK cable from the iMac's "headphone" output
combo-jack to the speaker system's "optical" input. You'll need a cable
with a 3.5 mm mini-TOSLINK connector on the iMac end and a standard
TOSLINK connector on the speaker end. Something like this:

I was wondering if these were compatible with the iMac. The iMac has a 3.5 mm jack on it, and from the product description it says it's a 5 mm plug, yet the description also makes mention of being used for Apple laptops. I would be quite surprised if monoprice didn't carry a cable for this use - seeing as they have every type of cable and adapter known to man.
Does anyone know if the type linked can indeed fit in the iMac optical jack?
