Connecting HDTV to iMac as second monitor

Hello, I have this model TV: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16889022029

I tried converting the Mini-DVI to VGA, and the monitor is detected, but I cannot get a display. TV says "No Signal"

So now I would like to try converting the Mini-DVI to HDMI. I found a third party Mini-DVI to HDMI adapter at monoprice: http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10419&cs_id=1041912&p_id=4852&seq=1&format=2

Before I spend any more money, anyone have any experience with it?

Also, what would I need to just use my TV as a non HD monitor as I'm out of HDMI ports?

Sauce, Im currently using an iMac using mini dvi - dvi then dvi - hdmi and works fine so dont be worried

Matrix, it wuld depend on the inputs you have to to support you machine

Well I have the Mini dvi on my Imac, and I'm pretty sure VGA on my tv... would that just end up in a bad picture, if I did mini dvi - VGA? or is there not even a cable that would do that?
