So i am trying to connect my iPad to my tv and use the Xfinity app so i can watch tv from the app on my tv. when the iPad is connected through lightning to hdmi on the tv the app says "error disconnect all external devices including airplay. How the hell do i disable airplay?

Swipe up from the bottom of your iPad to get the airplane mode/flashlight/camera option panel. You will see an option for Air Play Mirroring:

However the message from the app:

"error disconnect all external devices including airplay."

implies that Comcast won't allow you to do it via airplay or direct connect.

I'm directTV now (I just couldn't take the Comcast pain anymore) so can't really confirm. I'm sure there are one or two Comcast customers out there who can say whether this is really the case.
