Connecting Mac mini G4 to sound system/TV

If possible, use the optical out with an adapter to connect it to an optical TOSlink cable straight to your receiver. That would be the best way.
Otherwise, a 1/8" to stereo RCA cable or adapter would be fine.

No optical on G4 MacMini
Since the G4 doesn't have a digital out (optical or toslink) you have to buy an additional product if you want 'True' Surround sound. I'm still trying to decide which of the product offerings is best for this scenario. What type of surround sound receiver or set-up are you wanting to use?

G4 Minis have no optical output connector for sound, only a stereo headphone jack. That makes the sound hookup very simple - just use an adapter cable with a headphone jack on one end and two RCA connectors (red and white) on the other end. Obviously, you only get stereo from this hookup, and no surround sound options.
How you hook it up to your TV depends a lot on the available inputs on your TV. If your TV has a DVI, HDMI, or VGA input, just get the appropriate cable.
