connecting my 24in iMac to my 1080i DLP tv

I have a 42in Samsung DLP tv that can handle 1081i. My question is what resolution option should I choose on my Mac for output resolution to the tv?

1280x720 or 1920x1080 are my options. In the 1280 mode, I can read the type on the screen much more clear, but will movies via Itunes look better at a different resolution?
