How do I connect a Raspberry Pi 4 to an iMac (mid~2011) ?

I don't want to faff with a headless connection, so what cable can I use for the video in please ?

The Pi board has a micro-HDMI interface, but what do I plug that into on the iMac ?

What about the micro Display port ?
iMac 2011 has a thunderbolt port, not DisplayPort. It will only work as a screen with other thunderbolt Mac’s, and you have to use some earlier operating systems as well.

(I owned a 2011 iMac for several years, always hoped a rumored adapter would be released but it never was.)

The apple support article above should show what target display mode will work with, unfortunately it has to be another thunderbolt mac.

You could use a USB video capture device with an HDMI input. Not the same thing but perhaps good enough?

Easy, use a HDMI to USB video capture card. On the iMac it will pop-up n a window like a webcam.
Not full screen but it'll be enough to control the Raspberry.

That would require me to buy two separate cables. It’s a wonder that there isn’t a micro HDMI-to-USB, cutting the second cable. It’s cheaper and easier to just pre-define wireless access.

I’ve never had to bother with HDMI, I just assumed that and the DisplayPort were one and the same.

Thanks for the info though.
