connecting with a laptop?

I have my desk computer and have a local ISP setup. What setup do you guys have for your laptops when out of state?
I guess I'll have to get a separate one when I get my laptop??
The laptop I'm looking at has this:

I have T-Mobile it works at most Starbucks, Kinkos and some airports and hotels. If you're traveling, many motels/hotels have free wireless.

I believe that Earthlink and AOL also offer dial up access outside of your home area.

Also, there's lots of free wireless access around the US, http://www.wififreespot.com/ is one way to locate them, there's lots of other sites that list various free hot spots as well.

I like T-Mobile and I like coffee so Starbucks is great for me. The yearly plan is $30 a month, the connections are always fast, faster than my DSL at home anyway.

I don't use sharing on my computer at home so I always turn it off. It's a good idea to do so because other people could have access to the stuff on your computer.

What kind of a laptop are you getting?

I'm looking at a couple on ebay right now. One is a PowerBook G3 Lombard and the other is a Apple G3 White Snow iBook 500mhz Airport 320mb.
I'm just looking for a backup and a portable to take to work with me and when we go on vacation to pick up email.
Nothing fancy or special. My desktop needs to go in for repairs SOON and I really need one all the time. I'm addicted!

I have Road Runner High Speed Online, which is cable internet. They include free dial-up with tons of numbers all over the country. You install this little program (both OS X and Windows versions, impressive) and type in the city you are in and it finds local numbers. It's great!

I'd go for the iBook, the Lombards are great but getting a little long in the tooth. The iBook will last a lot longer. Yeah, I love my PB, never need to go without the internet for very long!
