I recently sold my C2D unibody 17" MBP with the intention of upgrading to the new i7 model. To be honest, I have never entertained the idea of owning an iMac. I love Apple notebooks, but when it comes to desktops I have stuck with my PC for gaming.
In the last couple of days, however, I noticed that the price of an iMac is about the same as a new MacBook Pro (depending on configuration). In some cases, I might even be able to save some money by getting an iMac instead. I played with one for a little bit in the store and really enjoyed it. The resolution on the 27" is fantastic, and the screen is gorgeous.
I understand comparing a 27" iMac to a MacBook Pro is like comparing apples to oranges, however, has anyone else been in a similar situation? In the end, what did you go with?
My MBP didn't really leave the house much, but it was nice to have it in the living room. The iPad sort of makes up for it, but not entirely. I think it would still be nice to have a notebook, but the thought of a 27" iMac won't leave my mind. If I do decide to go with an iMac, I'd have to figure out where to put my PC's monitor but I'll save that for later.
