I am considering an iMac because since I got my Mini, I hardly use my new Uni MacBook, so if I sell it, I will order an iMac, question I have is which Model? and should I stay with the NVidia or go with the ATI.

I know this is more preference, but what is everyone out there running, and I am technical so get technical I need to make sure I buy the proper unit.

Buy the one in my sig! :)

Go with the better graphics card if you can afford it, unless you have really have no use for games, at all. Even then, it helps with future-proofing and resale.

Go with the 2.98 GHz rather than the 3.06 GHz, as the difference is likely to be meaningless to most people.

Don't go with the upgraded HD. Instead, if you need more space, snag a 1TB external, which makes it handy for Time Machine backups.

Don't buy the 20" version unless you are strapped for the cash or dislike large monitors. 24" is awesome. 24" x 2 is even better.

8 MB of memory would rock, but it's damn spendy. I wish I could have afforded it, but my machine is plenty zippy as it is.

I think you mean 8 GB of RAM.

Yeah, but then you're dealing with the "which drive did I put that on" issue. Sure, the upgrade price for the 1TB drive is a ripoff, but I spent it on mine anyway because I wanted as much onboard storage as I could get without having to rely on external drives. Adding a 2TB LaCie RAID gives me redundant backup that mirrors my onboard drive in size.

Thanks for the info all, however I keep all my data on my external Time Machine Drive, then I duplicate it to another external and put that in my fire safe, I personally could get away with a 120 GB internal, I prefer everything be mobile in case one Mac goes down, I can read it on another one.

My rule, and it works for me every time.

Get the best you can afford at the time you buy.

That way you won't have regrets in the future. I'm looking at an iMac 24" / 1TB and ATi myself. I don't want to have regrets later.

Hey, whatever works for you. I have no such issues.

Me neither and I'm gonna upgrade to an SSD anyway as soon 10.6 is released. At that time 512GB will be the max fitting my budget I guess.

Besides, I thought everyone did it the same way: one drive for porn, one drive of the other, less essential stuff. Then a backup for your porn.
