The TV in question is a 22" widescreen LCD model by Samsung. It's about 3 years old and is not HD.
It has composite input, but not component, but it does support DVI input. Would AppleTV work with a HDMI to DVI cable (such as this) and suitable composite audio input?
The TV manual tells me that its maximum resolution is 1280x720 @ 60Hz - is that suitable enough for the AppleTV?

That's exactly what i'm doing. I use a HDMI to DVI video cable and an opitcal cable for the audio that goes to my home entertainment system and it's working fine !
