Considering buying an iMac, Have some iMac Noob questions

I am currently considering buying an iMac to replace my Windows XP run computer, but I have a few questions that need to be answered before I do. And sorry, but a lot of these are really n00b like questions >_<


1. I used to use LimeWire quite often, but now I only use it to get B-Sides or songs not on iTunes. That being said, I still have about 200 of my 900 songs from LimeWire. Can I transfer these files easily from my Computer to a Mac?

2. That being said, is it easy to transfer all types of files (Word, PowerPoint, etc.) from Computer to Mac? Will I have to redownload some programs (FireFox, Google Chrome, World of Warcraft) manually, or are they transferred in these File Transfers I have heard about?

3. Is it possible to use my Wireless Mouse/Keyboard/Wacom Tablet and Speakers with an iMac? How many USB slots does it have?

4. I have yet to buy Microsoft Office 2007; is it available for Mac?

5. What are some Pre-Loaded programs on the Mac? Are things like GarageBand free?

1. Yes, it is not anymore difficult than switching to any other computer. I used an external HD and everything moved over from my Dell.

2. You will need to download Mac versions of your programs, so leave those behind...they are useless But files will work fine.

3. Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes. Has 4 USB ports in the back, two on the keyboard. Total of 6.

4. But of course. Office Mac 2008 is great!

5. You get Garage Band, IMovie, IPhoto, Photo booth, etc.

Of course! Just plug in an external HD, firewire (if your PC supports it) would be my ideal choice. And also, I recommend you give BitTorrent a shot.

You'll have to redownload, and there is no Google Chrome for Mac yet sadly. OS X programs are very different in terms of set up than Windows, in fact, easier...usually it's a .dmg disk file you mount (by double clicking on it) and dragging the app icon to your app folder.

YES! iMac isn't called the king of editing/design for nothing; I think there are 4 USB slots. The plus is the two awesome ones on my keyboard I use for my iPod.

4. I have yet to buy Microsoft Office 2007; is it available for Mac?
It's Office 2008 for Mac, and it's at SP1 right now, so it's been out a while. I personally love it, loads up quick, does everything I need. IMO if you can live without Outlook on the Mac, which isn't so great, "Entourage" and use Mail/iCal instead...get the Home and Student Edition, it's cheaper (I paid $149), or go through other channels.

5. What are some Pre-Loaded programs on the Mac? Are things like GarageBand free?
The iLife suite is included: iMovie, iPhoto, Garage Band, Front Row, Photo Booth, Safari, Mail, iTunes, iSync, Automator...

Enjoy your Mac! You can even, ugh, run Windows on it if you wish. Just hit command-space, or click the Spotlight icon, and enter "Boot Camp".
